Formation of waterfall

 If the hard rock in the river bed is horizontal or parallel to the horizon and the subsequent rock is soft, then a ledge is formed in the river bed itself, over which the river jumps and falls. In this type of waterfall, the impact of the water on the bottom of the waterfall creates a crater as the river water falls from a height.
